Brand Guide

Completing the design of your visual brand is always a joyous, fulfilling occasion that kicks off the creative process of sharing you and your business with the world. But having it in-hand is not enough. To make your visual brand design work for you, you need the know-how to use it correctly across all your communication platforms, including print and digital. That’s why I develop a brand guide as part of every branding package.

A brand guide tailored to your visual brand teaches you how and when to use your logo, colors, and fonts to stay on-brand. You don’t need a full-service agency. With the help of the brand guide I develop for you, you can learn how to properly use your brand assets to maximize your brand identity.

Foundation Branding

My Branding Process

1

Brand Discovery

Your first step is a little homework. I’ll send you a questionnaire about your company so I can discover the heart of your visual brand.

2

Mood Board

Guided by the information you provide in the questionnaire, I’ll start building a mood board, showing imagery that captures the feel of your brand. This will become a roadmap to designing your assets.

3

Logo Concepts

Once we arrive at a strategy for your brand, I’ll get started on the logo concepts. I will develop two concept options for your review and feedback. We’ll work together to refine your chosen concept into the logo that feels perfect for your brand.

4

Secondary Logo, Submark, Pattern & Brand Guide

Once we settle on a final logo, I’ll whip up a secondary version and a submark for approval. These two pieces are useful for portraying your brand in alternative layout situations. Next I create your brand guide.

5

Collateral Pieces

We’re almost there! If your package included any collateral, or if you chose any add-on, I will design those items for your review and approval. Again, we’ll work together to get them just right.

6

File Delivery

Yay! We’re done! You will receive a digital package including all of your brand files in a tidy, well-organized folder made available for download via Dropbox. Now you’re ready to share your new brand identity with the world.

FAQs

How does payment work?

A 50% deposit is required before the start of any package-based project. The remaining 50% will be billed at the end of the project. Final files will be released after final payment.

I already have a logo. Can I hire you to create marketing collateral (business cards, flyers, etc.) for me? Can you build a brand around my existing logo?

The answer to both questions is yes. I am available to create marketing collateral for an already existing brand. I can also work with you to turn an already existing logo into a full brand, including alternate logos, submarks, patterns, etc.

Do you offer printing services?

I do not offer printing services. I provide you with a print-ready file that should work with any printer you choose. I can provide printer recommendations if you ask. Note: I do not have formal business relationships with printers.

How long will my project take?

My Foundation Branding package takes between six and eight weeks to complete. The Professional Branding package will take between eight and ten weeks, depending on the type of collateral you choose. Time frames for all other projects will be dependent on the project scope and my availability.

What if your packages don’t fit my needs?

Some businesses have different needs. My packages reflect what a typical client might need, but I am open to creating a custom package. Please contact me and we can discuss your specific needs.

Do you offer website design?

I currently do not offer website design or development. I can provide website design and development referrals upon request.

How do you deliver the final files?

I create a Dropbox folder for your files and share the link to the folder via email. I typically keep the files up on Dropbox for a month before deleting them. (Clients must download and/or save the files to their own directories.)

What do you need from me to start a branding package?

I work in collaboration with my clients, so I will ask a lot of questions and look for feedback from you along the way. At the beginning of the project, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire that helps you to fully consider your business or professional identity. This is a critical piece — the more information you share in the questionnaire, the better targeted the branding I will be able to create for you. I will also ask you to be timely in returning your feedback to keep the project on track.
