Rochester Business Journal 25th Anniversary Edition
While I was employed at the Rochester Business Journal, we published a special edition to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the newspaper. The editor wanted something more open and clean than our newspaper layout. As lead designer on the project, I needed to find a balance between the pages that were photo-heavy and the ones that were text-heavy. After discussing these needs, I put together some options, utilizing a narrower two-column grid with an open outside column that could be used to extend photos or for quotes. This would give the layout a bit of air. Below are the cover—which I also designed—and a few inside spreads.
2012 Explore Greater Rochester
I was the senior designer on this annual project from its inception in 2003 until I left the company in 2017. It’s changed through the years but has always been a point of pride for me. The 2012 issue was my favorite. There were more opportunities for creative design than some other issues (due to content). Explore Greater Rochester was been a joint publication between RBJ and Visit Rochester and stands as Visit Rochester’s official guide.
